Governor King's Visit

Governor Angus King visited Fisher Mitchell School on November 24, 1998. Mrs. Granger's Second Grade introduced him to Owney the Traveling Dog. The class shared with the governor the many things they have learned through this Internet and postal project. Governor King said hello to all the Fisher Mitchell students at an assembly.

The governor helped us put Maine pins on Owney's vest. Every school adds State pins to his vest. It is like the tags the real Owney wore.

Governor King is holding Owney and looking at his pins.
Governor King is holding the Maine pin and the apple pin. Governor King helps us put the pins on Owney.

Governor King is holding Owney's little black vest so a boy in our class can put one of Owney's pins on Owney.
Owney is sitting in Mrs. Granger's rocking chair wearing his pins.

Governor King is talking to every single person and teacher in school. And he is telling facts about his office and other good stuff.
After Governor King is done talking he gets a few questions. And Mrs. Grangers class gets to sing a song called Thanksgiving.

Thank you Governor King for coming to our school.
