Students will be able
to: 1. Describe the relationship between
healthy practices and personal health (e.g., eating well and
exercise). Basic health practices such as
nutritional foods and adequate exercise. Discussions concerning snacks and
exercise. Brainstorm what is healthy for snack
and do a healthy snack tally every day. Students will classify snacks as
healthy or not healthy. nutrition 2. Identify indicators of physical,
mental, emotional, and social health during
childhood. Characteristics of a healthy child
(ex., gets proper rest, asks for help when needed,
cooperates) Discussions at morning
meetings. Role play situations involving
emotions. Design a poster which shows a healthy
lifestyle. physical health 4. Identify common health problems of
children that should be detected and treated
early. Health problems might include:
Routine discussions as the need
arises, or at morning meeting. Students will write a short article
for a school handbook including at least 3 health problems
which should be detected early. . 6. Explain the difference between
positive and negative responses to stress. Acceptable vs. nonacceptable ways to
deal with stressful situations. Role-play situations that cause stress
and discuss positive and negative responses. Given several stressful situations
(test, friend moving away, etc.), students will explain a
negative and positive response for each. stress
