Content Standard: Civics and Government Students will be able to: 1. Identify examples of how the United
States interacts with other countries (e.g., trade,
treaties). Examples of way countries interact
include: Students will discuss ways countries
interact (trade, treaties, etc.). They will make a mobile
using 5 cutout letter Ts, writing one of the following words
on each T (trade, treaties, tourism, teams, teaching) and
discussing the meaning of each. The students will list at least three
things that you use which were made in another country and
at least 3 things from Maine which would be exported to
another country. (see also Economics D1) interact 2. Compare a foreign culture to that
of the United States. Students should study at least one
foreign culture which is significantly different from that
of the United States. Cultures can be compared
concerning Students will use a Venn diagram or
chart to compare a foreign culture to the United States. After a study of a foreign culture,
students will make a picture of that culture and one
depicting the United States. These pictures will compare
different aspects of the 2 cultures. foreign culture

Students will understand the political relationships among the United
States and other nations.
