2. Compare a foreign culture to that of the United States. Include an analysis of how decisions are made.

Students will compare cultures they meet through current events, literature or World Language.

Cultures can be compared concerning:

  • customs and traditions
  • how basic needs are met
  • language
  • transportation
  • communication
  • type of government

Students will have discussions based on articles in Time for Kids or current events. (human rights, how government officials are selected, etc.)
Students will discuss other related literature (Dalai Lama by Demi).

Students will use a graphic organizer (Venn diagram, etc.) to compare a specific foreign culture to that of the United States and will include how decisions are made.
