National Junior Honor Society - organized to recognize student members who uphold high standards of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. Activities of the group are geared toward encouraging members to experience positive and meaningful participation in their school and community.
At the end of the third quarter of each academic year, a seventh grade student is invited to complete an application for membership if he/she has been on the Honor Roll for every quarter of his/her sixth and seventh grade years. A list is compiled of students who have completed their applications. This list and a copy of the applications are given to all the teaching teams at BMS and the teams are asked to rate each student in the areas of character, service, leadership and citizenship. The top thirty of the eligible seventh graders are selected for membership to begin their eighth grade year. A formal induction ceremony is held once a year in May.

Yearbook Staff - is responsible for the creation of the BMS Yearbook. The staff begins the year by deciding on the layout of the book and taking photographs around the school and at school activities. As pictures become available the staff begins the process of layout and copy of individual pages. This process will take most of the year to complete. The Yearbook staff is also responsible for the marketing and sale of the yearbook. The yearbook staff has to meet deadlines and pay close attention to details.
The amount of time commitment varies throughout the year with various deadlines that must be met. Winter and early spring are the busy times for the yearbook staff.
