About Bath Middle School
Bath Middle School is made up of grades six, seven and eight. Our mission is to provide the best possible education for all of our students. We have a wide variety of offerings to help each student maximize his/her potential, both academically and socially. Our school structure consists of one house in the sixth grade (Gold), two houses in the seventh grade (Red and Green) and two houses in the eighth grade (Black and Purple). Our seventh and eighth grade houses loop (stay with the same teachers for two years).
All students take foreign language (French/Spanish) while at BMS. The following Exploratory subjects are offered to all students during their time at BMS—art, guidance, physical education, computer applications, technology education, and home economics. We also have a strong special needs department which services those who qualify for extra help. We have an ESL teacher, a speech therapist, a full-time nurse, a social worker and a guidance counselor to help all students be successful. We offer a strong music program, encompassing all grade levels in instrumental and vocal music.
The support of the Bath community goes a long way in helping us to make our
programs work.
Our students have consistently scored at or above the State average on MEA scores.
We are one of only a handful of Middle Schools/Junior Highs across the state
to have a National Junior Honor Society recognizing deserving students.
BMS offers several sports for boys and girls throughout the school year. There
are other activities for the non-athlete, such as the Environmental Club, Math
Team and Civil Rights Team.
We are proud of our school and all that is offered to our students. We are proud
of our students as well. We will continue to strive to be a school of excellence.
Student Recognition Programs
Honor Roll
BMS recognizes Honor Roll/High Honors/Honorable Mention students every trimester. Honor Roll students are recognized with certificates and their names are placed in the local newspaper, The Times Record.
Awards Night
Every June Bath Middle School holds an Awards Night to recognize student achievement
at BMS. This year's Awards Night is June 8, 2006 at 7:00. Many students are
honored at Awards Night. Teaching teams reward outstanding performance in each
subject as well as acknowledge the most improved student and a student who displays
outstanding citizenship from each house. The Secretary of State's Good Citizenship
Award, the Phoenix Award, the Renaissance Award, the Student Council Awards,
the Kemp Awards, and the Louis T. Young award are also presented during the
evening's event.
BMS Pride
BMS Pride is a program at Bath Middle School that recognizes students who demonstrate a pride in their school through positive work and citizenship. Areas for recognition are responsibility, respect and positive role modeling. Students who are recognized by staff have their names placed in a weekly drawing for a prize.
