Laptop Guidelines

General

1. If you are found visiting a non-educational website, you will receive an automatic office referral.

2. If you use inappropriate language or discuss inappropriate topics in an e-mail or on a document on your laptop, you will receive an automatic office referral.

3. If you clear or tamper with the Internet History setting, you will receive an automatic office referral.

Games

1. The only appropriate times for this activity are during homeroom or guided practice.
• Homework comes first.
• Chess is okay because it’s already on your laptop.
• You may not play any unauthorized games. An authorized game would be one on a website that was teacher-directed. For example, the teacher gave you the address of a site that had a geography game.

E-mail

1. You may e-mail using First Class only to students at BMS and only during homeroom. If you break that rule:
• 1st offense - warning
• 2nd offense - You may not get your laptop from the rack until 7:45 for one week.
• 3rd offense - Your First Class account will be suspended for two weeks so that you can only e-mail to your teachers.

Printing

1. Ask first.
2. Print in a normal font in size 12 or 14 - no whole pages in bold - no drawings that are not related to an assigned project.
3. Your name must be on any paper that you print so that we know who it belongs to.
4. If, after you push “print”, there is no paper coming out of the printer, get help. Don’t keep pushing print.
5. Abuse of the printing guidelines will result in a charge of 10 cents a page.
