"Health Science Careers" I

2 CREDITS & 1/2 SCIENCE CREDIT
The Health Science Careers I morning class focuses on the skills needed to be a certified nursing assistant C.N.A.  Students receive supervised clinical experience at the Mid Coast Hospital, and Bath Fire and Rescue Department.

This class prepares students to work in hospitals, doctors offices, and other related medical fields.  Students receive 2 credits plus one credit in science.

Some of the Departments we will explore include:

  1. Bath Fire Dept
  2. Mid-Coast Hospital
  3. Emergency Room
  4. Labor +Delivery
  5. Veterinary Hospital
  6. Physicals Therapy

Certified Nursing Assistant PM- 2 Credits + Science

The Health Science Careers II Afternoon class is open for students who have taken HSCI.  This Course offers 3 credits plus I credit in science. 

This Course takes three approaches.  Students receive a state certificate as a "Certified Residential Medication Aid" (CRMA), Credits towards collage "Medical Terminology", and are eligible for the "school to work" program.  Students train in specialized careers of the medical field.

All students will receive a:

  1. CPR/First Aid Card

  2. Certified Nursing assistant state license. C.N.A.

  3. CRMA

  4. Medical Terminology Credit

Who can take the Health Occupations Programs?

Students considering enrolling in either program must attend one of the following high schools:

  • Boothbay Region High School
  • Lincoln Academy
  • Morse High School
  • Wiscasset High School

What skills do I need to succeed in these programs?

  • Honesty

  • Ability to Interact with Others

Upon successful completion of this course students may take the State Certified Nursing Exam and receive state certification. Individuals receiving certification must be at least 16 years old.

To be accepted into either Health Occupations program you must complete an application and visit the program. If the instructor and your high school recommend you, you will be accepted into the program on a space available basis.
