Parents,
students,
teachers, and community members working together can accomplish great
things for our children.
****Next
meeting: Tuesday, November 13, 6:00 Patten Free Library****
Welcome to the 2007-2008 school
year at Dike-Newell!
The Dike-Newell and
Fisher-Mitchell PTAs are very excited about the new school year. We
plan to work together to make it a wonderful year for our children,
teachers, and parents. The PTA exists to advocate for our youth,
support parents and teachers, encourage parent and public involvement
in education, and improve literacy for children.
With yet another school
reconfiguration, the PTA realized how challenging it would be to attend
both PTA meetings especially for parents who have children at both
schools. We knew that we had a wonderful opportunity to bring together
the best of what both schools have to offer with regard to events and
support for school programs. This year, we will work as one PTA.
This year, we will meet on the
second Tuesday of every month at the Patton Free Library. We will begin
with a social time at 6:00pm, and the formal business meeting to begin
at 6:15pm. Childcare is free and provided by the PTA. We will send out
monthly reminders. Please come and see what we are about. We need
and
welcome your input, ideas, and expertise. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!
The PTAs plan events and
fundraisers to be quality family and friend time, educationally sound,
and support our schools. It’s important to know why we need to raise
funds. Our largest donations (at least $1000.00 per grade level),
support the Curriculum Enrichment Program (CEP). This program allows
the PTA to give money to each grade team to be used for artists,
concerts, field trips, and participation in programs that reinforce
what students are learning in the classroom. Without our PTAs, the
Curriculum Enrichment Program could not exist, as it is not funded
through our local school budget.
Please notice the membership form
below. If you would like to join the PTA as a paid member, the
membership fee is $5 per adult. Please fill out the form and return it
to school with your child. You may also sign up at our first meeting,
Tuesday, September 11th. Membership allows you to
vote at PTA meetings. However, you DO NOT have to be a member to
participate. You can attend meetings, voice your ideas and opinions,
and volunteer at our events. We do not ask that you attend every
meeting or every event. Find an event that is of interest to you and
participate. Even a small amount of time is helpful and appreciated.
Get involved in YOUR child’s education. We welcome any support.
The PTA looks forward to working with all parents, teachers, staff,
students, and other members of the community to make this a successful
year. Come see what the new Bath Elementary PTA is all about. Please
feel free to email me at kfgatespta@verizon.net.
Sincerely,
Kimberly F. Gates, President Candy Hernandez, Secretary
Lisha Wentworth, Vice President Vanessa Leavitt, Treasurer
