Children discover that the skills they learn in art class can be used in other subjects. Art concepts can be used simultaneously with concepts from other disciplines.
Teachers know that motivation is easy when a creative visual product is involved. Students eagerly engage in these lessons, so teachers are always looking for ways to integrate interests across the curriculum.

Challenging, creative activities often have a rich technical side.

The lessons may be teaching:

Remembering steps and facts,
Following directions,
Introducing knowledge,
Reinforcing knowledge,
Building on past knowledge,
Generating ideas
Combining ideas,
Problem solving,
Predicting,
Experimenting,
Making choices - ideas and /or materials,
Sharing - materials and /or space
Helping others,
Explaining or Arguing knowledge.
Testing or assessing units of study

Even fine motor skills practice for little fingers, or proper use of classroom materials and tools may be the primary reason for creating many visual products.

And when students know that their products will be displayed; they learn to do their very best.

Every picture tells a story...
