Parents, students, teachers, and community members working together can accomplish great things for our children.

Welcome to the Dike-Newell PTA website!

On behalf of the Dike-Newell PTA, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Dike-Newell School.  We hope your children will have a great year.

The Dike-Newell PTA is part of a National Organization that has advocated on the behalf of children for more than 100 years.  The PTA Mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing skills they need to rise and protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

Studies have shown that children do better in school when their parents become involved in their education. This doesn't mean that you must volunteer a lot of hours. For some of us, time constraints and jobs do not allow us to volunteer in school or help with an event.  Involving yourself can include offering to bake, cutting materials for your childís teacher, and most importantly, taking interest in what your child is doing in school.

The Dike-Newell PTA is another great way to get involved.  You can attend monthly meetings.  We discuss issues such as school nutrition, school board meetings, local, state and national school testing, plus many events that are happening at our school.  You can volunteer to help us at one of our events.  If you choose to help us at an event, you pick the area and the time.  If you can give us only 30 minutes, thatís great!  Weíll take it!  I urge you to find an event that peaks your interest and volunteer at it.  We won't ask you to stay longer than you can and we will not hound you to work at our other events.

Sincerely,

Joanne Kosakowski, President Dike-Newell PTA
