Welcome to Jason Carter's Page

Dear Parents,
My name is Jason Carter, for those parents who have not met me. This is my 4th year as the Phys. Ed. Teacher and my 6th year at Dike-Newell. I graduated from the University of Maine in 1998 and began here as the behavior aide for two years. I then took a position as a behavior specialist at MCCD working with autistic children. The following year the Phys. Ed. position opened up at Dike-Newell, at which point I began my career.
My goal for my students is to introduce, develop, and inspire life long activities. Phys. Ed. is moving away from sport activities and is focusing on activities that will keep children active and fit beyond their school years. Sedendary lifestyles are the #1 cause of many diseases killing adults today. Stroke, heart disease and obesity, being the top killers, are all preventable. This is why I feel a strong need to connect with my students, find their interests and expose them to activities that will fight against these diseases.
For me to succeed, however, requires you as parents to cultivate the seeds I plant. As you all know we are role models for our children, and what we show them is far more powerful than what we tell them. So get involved, share your hobbies, seek new adventures and create those special memories. Of course, inquire about the things I teach, and please come in at any time with questions or thoughts. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I hope you had a terrific summer.
