The Three Little....Stories

We wrote our stories after reading many versions of The Three Little Pigs. We discovered similarities and differences in the versions, and then used the "formula" to write our own stories.

Our formula:

Three "not too strong" animals go off to build their own homes (Sometimes Mom sent them).

Three materials to build homes ...weak, medium strong, strong.

A predator to try to get in the homes.

A phrase to use when he wants to get in.

Something that happens to each animal as their home is destroyed.

An ending for the predator.

And now....the stories:

The Three Little Ants
by S.R.

Once upon a time there were three little ants. Their mother said it was time for them to go and build your own houses.

When the first little ant was walking along, he saw some mice carrying bundles of grass. The ant said, "Can I have some of the grass?" The mice said , "Yes." So the first ant made a house.

When he saw the bird coming, he went into his house.

The bird said,"Little ant, little ant let me come in."

"Not by my antennas of my heady, head, head. I will not let you in."

"So I will peck and I will peck and I will blow your house in." So the first little ant went to the second little ant's house.

The second little ant was just putting the last piece on the house, when the first little ant came. When the second little ant heard the bird coming, they went into the house. The bird said, "Little ant, little ant, let me come in." "Not by my antennas of my heady, head, head. Then I will peck and I will peck and I will peck your house down.

So they went to their brother's house. He was putting the rock in when they came.

They were piling more rocks when the bird came and said, "Little ant, little ant, let me come in."

"Not by my antennas of my heady, head, head."

"Then I will peck and I will peck your house down."

So they went to their mother's house and they lived happily ever after.

"Not by my floppy ears."

"Then I will scratch and scratch your house down." So the big bad tiger did.

Then the first dog ran to the second little dog's house.

The second little dog build himself a house. It was made of rocks. Then the big bad tiger came to the second dog's house. When the first dog came to the second dog's house the big bad tiger was already there. He said, "Little dog, little dog, let me in."

"Not by my floppy ears."

So the tiger scratched and scratched his house down. So the two dogs ran to the third dog's house.

The third little dog built himself a house. It was made of hard mud. When the other dogs got there, the tiger was already there. He said, "Little dogs, little dogs let me in."

"Not by our floppy ears."

"Then I will scratch and scratch your house down", but he could not.

It was the same with the second rabbit. The first and the second little rabbits got away.

The third little rabbit dug a hole in the field. In ten minutes the fox's voice said "Little rabbit, let me come in". "No! Not by the whiskers on my nosey, nose, nose" the rabbit said.
