SUPSHIP
in Bath, Maine

People do interesting things at SUPSHIP.
Thank you Captain Hepburn for inviting Owney and our class to visit Supship. We wanted to know what kind of work people do there.

Cmd. Watson asked us to show our badges we can go into SUPSHIP. He gave us our badges at school . We got to keep them.
Captain Hepburn is welcoming us to SUPSHIP. He is telling us what we are going to do and see.

We are going to pretend to be engineers and test ships.
We are building our ships. They have sails.

This is the test to see if they will sail to the other end.
The boys are trying to get there sails right.

We thought this was great. We are talking to someone in Mississippi. She can see us and we can see her. There is a map to show where we both are. We asked her what the weather was like in Mississippi.
This is the computer that we use to show different parts of the room.

We are learning how they make contracts. We are planning a contract for bicycles. We are just pretending.

We are negotiating the contract. We tell what we will pay for the kind of bicycle we want. They try to talk us into a different one.
We are learning about budgets. They find out what usually happens and plan how much it will cost.

We are doing it with M&Ms. First we have to sort them out by color.

We are counting M&M's to see if there are about the same number of brown each time.
We colored in the chart to see if it was about the same. It was about the same. The cost should be about the same for things we buy.

We are all in front of SUPSHIP with the navy people who showed us around and walked to and from school with us.
Thank you for inviting us. We learned a lot. Some of us want to work at SUPSHIP when we grow up.
