We talked about patterns at the Maine Maritime Museum. We talked about patterns on boats. Ships have three masts and square sails. Schooners have 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 6 masts. Their sails are called fore and aft sails. We saw pictures of boats. We looked at the shapes of the sails and how many masts they had. We got good at telling the difference between ships and schooners.
We learned how to send signals with flags and Morse code. We communicated with flags.
We got a snack with special patterns.
The field trip to the museum was fun. We learned more about boats, signals and patterns. We had fun learning about boats. We liked the field trip.
