N. C. My friend and I slid down the path to the secret door. When we got in the door, we went up some stairs and then went into a place that had a TV in it. We put our coats in the room, then we went into another room. We did patterns and signals. It was very fun. We looked at some pictures. We used signal flags. We talked about schooners. We looked at flags and they had letters and numbers on them. The ones with the letters on them meant sentences. They would put the signal flags on ships. There was a little button that if you put it together, the button would make a sound. There was a paper that had the alphabet on it. Lines and dots would be next to the letters. It was called Morse Code.. Maggie The first thing we did was to go in a secret door. Then we went into a movie place. It had gray seats. We did signals with flags. We talked about ships and how many sails. On one there was 3 sails. On another one there were 5 sails. It was a 5 masted schooner. Bryan told us about the Titanic. On the Titanic there were 2 children and over 100 people. Amanda We walked down a frozen path to a secret door into a dark room with our guide. His name is Bryan. He took us into a room with a window that was shaped like a house. We made flag signs and I played with a flash light for a minute. Then we were running late. We hopped on the bus and left. I can't wait until we go again. |

Olivia The first thing we did was go into a movie place but we did not watch a movie. We did go out a secret door, went to a rug and sat down and talked about ships and schooners. Bryan told us about how the boats talked together. They used flags. They all mean things. The letter O means "man over board" They only mean important things. We had teams. We wrote danger things. For instance, the other team said their boat was on fire and someone fell overboard and to keep away. After there was a flashlight. Amanda picked it up and started to play with it. Bryan said he was on a different ship. He said there's a little girl playing with a flash light. Then we got a snack. Then the bus got there and we left. Meranda Bryan was our host. We saw model ships. We got 2 sheets of paper. One was a dot to dot and we put patterns on a boat. Today we discovered patterns and shapes. Bryan is funny. It was fun! We went through two secret doors. Ms. Miller was funny there too! I love it when we go to the Maine Maritime Museum. We went in the auditorium to talk about what we were going to do today. Ms. Miller laughed so hard at the Maine Maritime Museum. We took pictures for the home page of the first and second graders so we can look at a bunch of those pages.

Brandon We went through a secret door into the TV room. We learned about boats. Then we looked at models of boats. The Maine Maritime Museum was fun. I hope we go back. It was the best trip ever. The path was slippery. The best part was holding up the flag. Melissa When we got off the bus, we went in a passway. It led to a movie room. Bryan led us to a room with a big window in the back. We did a pattern boat on a piece of paper and a dot to dot. After that we looked at ships and talked about what shapes the sails were. Next we made signals to another part of the class. Then we sat down and listened to Bryan. Amanda asked for a flashlight. Then she went wild with the flashlight. Then Bryan past us a code. After that we left and went back on the bus. |

Kate We went to the Maine Maritime Museum. At the Maine Maritime Museum, we talked about shapes and patterns. We also talked about how people in boats talk to each other. They used flags. We played a game. We had two teams. Both of the teams had a set of flags. They sent messages to each other. We also looked at some model ships. We drew patterns in a boat. We had a lot of fun at the Maine Maritime Museum. When we left our class got a snack. Angela We went to a movie place. We talked about ships. Then we went through a secret door. We talked about shape and sizes and colored a boat out of patterns like dots, lines and x's. Then we connected dot to dots and looked at model ships. We had a snack there. It was cookies and pretzels. We made flag signs. Melinda We went in a secret door then into the video room. Then we went out another secret door to sit on the rug and talked about shapes. Then we went to look at pictures of boats. Then we went and looked at flags of the alphabet. Then Andrew took a picture of something. Then we made signals with the flags. Student We went in a secret door and I slid down the hill. We went to a movie place and Bryan talked about patterns with us. Bryan asked us what things we saw on the cards. We colored a boat that told us where to put different patterns. We did dot to dot. Bryan told us what fore and aft means. Bryan took us to model boats, schooners and ships and he asked us what we thought boats and schooners were. Bryan gave us a card that tells us what certain flags meant. We sent messages to another ship. Bryan told us about the Titanic and what they did to get saved. They used this thing to send messages and the closest ship shut down there thing. A ship heard it. Then they shot fireworks and they thought they were having a party and then it sunk. Bryan gave us our snack then we went back to school. |
