Week of 4-18-03
WRITING--We wrote in our Journals about what we will be doing during April break. We generated a list of Oviparous Animals, wrote a class book about imaginary rabbits, and wrote another page in our Science Observations.
LIBRARY/READING--We read Chickens ArenÕt the Only Ones;
Animals in Hiding; Pussy Willow; The Little Red Hen; The Blue
Balloon; From Egg to Robin; Three Little Ducks; Ducks and Geese;
Bunny Trouble;Bunches of Bunnies; April Bunnies; The Best Egg Hunt
Ever; among others.
MATH--We worked on
number combinations, using 3 hexahedrons to make #5 and #6. We played
a button counting game with rabbits as the button holders. We worked
on the Peter Rabbit Adding Game.
LITERACY--I
have been reading with each child from their Book Boxes. We have
sorted out the "memorized" books and they brought them home for
reading there.
SCIENCE--We began
our study of EGGS and OVIPAROUS animals. After break, we will focus
more on Chickens and how their eggs develope as we incubate some real
eggs and hope to have live chicks hatch around May21st. We will
let you know if we have success and you are welcome to come in and
see the chicks. They will stay until they have developed feathers
that will keep them warm, and then return to the farm.
